Manicure Monday: Metallic French Manicure [and an OPI RapiDry Review]

Remember my glowing essie good to go product review that got you hooked on quick drying top coats? Well if you’re nearing the end of your bottle [as I am] this post might just give you something to consider. Don’t get me wrong – I still absolutely adore good to go, but what I love even more is trying new things.

Over the weekend I stopped in at Trade Secrets [as I often do] to pick up a few goodies. I had every intention to purchase my favourite essie rapid dry top coat but lo and behold, they were sold out – WHAT?! As you already know, part of my weekend routine includes a relaxing Sunday manicure, but how was I supposed to accomplish this task without my top coat? I knew I would have to make a compromise and find a new bottle to use – insert OPI RapiDry here.

Now I am not one to go back on my word – but wow, this stuff is good. Is it better than essie good to go? I’m not entirely sure yet but I am definitely leaning toward yes. It seems to be ever so slightly more chip resistant and the finish has an extra hint of shine. If those were the only factors I’d gladly proclaim OPI RapiDry to be my new go to top coat – however, at $18 a bottle [$6 more than the essie price tag] I am not sure I can justify this purchase time and again. All in all the benefits of a rapid drying top coat are indisputable and both brands live up to their claims. For now I am happy to be using my new OPI find – I’ll report back once I’ve finished the bottle. That will likely allow me to provide a more complete and accurate comparison.

Until then – here is a peek at this week’s nail featuring OPI Skyfall Collection, Casino Royale. I am completely enamored by the new metallic french manicure trend.

  7. Cool manicure! Love this idea will definitely be copying this! :p and i love that octopus ring! Where can I get one?

    • Thanks Bailey!! Send me a picture when you do yours, I’d love to see how they turn out!!!

As for the ring, I got it at a store called Wunderkammer Boutique, however, that was in December so I don’t know if they even stock it anymore. You may be able to find something similar online though… Wish I could be more help.
