A 5'3 Perspective

My Summer Book List

Remember when summer used to mean two full months of vacation and doing absolutely no work? Although it is a very vague memory to me, I know there was a time when this was true. I’d spend my days lying by the pool, speed reading book after book. Those were the days. I often hear people say that as they grow up, they no longer have time to read. Sure life gets busy, but I’m not buying that statement – so many of us curl up in front of the TV instead of getting lost in a good book. If reading isn’t your thing, that is completely fine, but if it is, here are a few books that are next on my list to read this summer.Summer Reading ListSarah’s Key by Tatiana de Rosnay: A heavy hitting Holocaust tale of tragedy and devotion. Although this will be an emotional read, it is a book you won’t be able to put down.

When in Doubt, Add Butter by Beth Harbison: A book that will have foodies, especially those with a sweet tooth, licking the pages. A fun, light-hearted easy read that will have you craving more than just the ending [as long as you’re into chic-lit]!

Everything is Perfect When You’re a Liar by Kelly Oxford: Social media sensation and mom, Kelly Oxford, share a hilarious rendition of her memoirs. This book will have you in stitches and ready to tell it like it is.

Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns by Lauren Weisberger:  This is sure to be the sequel of the summer for all you fashionistas and chic-lit lovers. The Devil Wears Prada is back for round two, this time the characters are a little older and more experienced –  but don’t worry that doesn’t mean there won’t be drama and backstabbing.

If you make it through this list and are looking for another book to devour – check out this awesome website that recommends books similar to ones you liked.
