A 5'3 Perspective

High Five For Friday

Another week has flown by – now it’s time to reflect on all of the awesome things that happened over the past seven days! High Five For Friday

1. This is me. I do silly things because it makes me happy. The amount of times I have created outfits out of garbage bags to stay dry is quite impressive. This one might be my best look yet!
2. I created crack… It may look like oat balls, but I assure you, they are the most addictive treats. Don’t worry I’ll share the recipe next week.
3. After years of abstaining for yoga, I decided to give it another try. It was love at first sun salutation. I’m back my yogi friends, and I’ve got a 30 day unlimited pass to prove it!
4. Nerd Alert – I got new glasses… they might be a bit over the top.
5. My workouts this week have been phenomenal. I finally feel like I have the energy to push myself and give it all. I hope this continues… maybe it is a side effect of adding yoga to my weekly exercise routine.

That’s all for today, thanks again to the lovely Lauren Elizabeth for hosting High Five For Friday!

A Guide To Growing Out Haircuts

It got me – the cold I have been trying my best to avoid. It doesn’t seem too intense, but I made a terrible choice to take NyQuil at 5:30 this morning and now I can barely keep my eyes open. Guess I should have opted for something non-drowsy. At least I know what to use next time I’m having an insomniac episode.

Here is a an awesome guide to growing out haircuts that I found and saved a while ago on pinterest. I can’t for the life of me remember where it came from though [so mad creds to whoever made this – sorry I couldn’t link to you].

How to grow out haircutsStay tuned for Ask a Beauty Blogger next week – I couldn’t have put together a coherent though today to write an answer.

If you’d like me to answer your question next week, head over here to send me a request.

Manicure Monday

Now that the holidays are in full force, I think it is time to pull out all the stops! Today I want to share with you my favourite new holiday nail colour – Chanel’s Malice. Released as part of the 2012 Holiday line, this colour is not for the faint of heart, it is a deep, deep vampy red, with lots of shimmer. Reminds me of a glass of merlot – packs a punch but is still smooth!

This polish paints like a dream, if you’re rushing out the door to get to a holiday party – you can get away with just one coat. Adding a second coat intensifies the ruby shimmer and richness of the colour. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to make it past three day without minor chips at the top, but I suspect my top coat has something to do with that. Either way this colour is just too incredible to pass up – plus if you’re anything like me, you’ll change your polish after three days anyways!

I love how Malice pairs with other holiday colours. Here is a picture of my holiday nails thus far. Keep in mind it is only the 10th of December, there will be more to come soon!

Feeling Like An Animal

Since I began writing this blog I have always wanted to share some of my personal style with you – but to be honest, it is a lot easier said than done. Finding the perfect back drop [or in my case an acceptable one], a photographer [thanks N and Papa P], and not to mention figuring out how to pose without looking completely ridiculous [this one still needs some work] is definitely challenging, but if you don’t push yourself you’ll never grow.

After a long girlie Skype date with one of my besties, I was inspired to chase my fears – we both agreed that doing this brings us success, or at least teaches us a few valuable lessons and makes for some good stories. So I’m ready – here is my first personal style post.

Bear with me, I am hoping the photo quality [aka my posing] only gets better from here – at least it is a starting point.

Oh hi!
