If you’re wondering why I’ve been missing in action for the past few days, let me put your mind at ease. Last Friday was my 25th birthday and as a gift, my [fabulous, amazing, thoughtful, amazing, fabulous – you get the picture] boyfriend surprised me with a trip to Las Vegas! Five days of sunshine, relaxation, partying and pure gluttony later I am back home. I cannot even begin to express how incredible this vacation was, but I will share some pictures next week! If you’re thinking about heading down to Sin City, I highly recommend it- it was a surreal few days and I enjoyed every moment.
Back to regular programming though – read on for today’s Ask A Beauty Blogger feature.
The question I am tackling today is one that I have battled for years. Only recently have I found a fool proof fix – and today – I am sharing it with you!
In all honesty, I believe that many “lip balm” products are drying and cause more chapping than going without. With the initial application your lips feel moisturized and relieved, but a mere moment later they are dry and flaking again. I can only guess that manufacturers develop lip products that will fuel and addiction to the balm and thus increase their sales. Unfortunately for the consumer – this suck. To date I have tried the majority of products to repair chapped lips and this is the formula I stand by today.
There are three steps to preventing and repairing chapped lips.
1. Hydrate – this is preventative. Drink lots of water to keep your body happy. This will do wonders for not only your lips but also your whole body.
2. Scrub – Get rid of dry skin by lightly scrubbing it away. I like to use fresh sugar lip polish ($26 CAD) but there are many other brands on the market that will do essentially the same thing.
3. Moisturize – Rose Salve ($7 CAD) is the only lip balm I have ever discovered that actually keeps my lips feeling great. Apply just a dab whenever you feel like you need it and your lips will feel instantly relieved.
Hopefully these tips are helpful! I’d love to hear your feedback – and for sure let me know if you end up trying one of these products.
