High Five For Friday: A Week In Review

Friday1. Spending some quality time with local bloggers at the Rideau Centre Project Preview Reception! Obviously a selfie with the queen of selfies (ML of Twenty York Street) was necessary.
2. Hockey is back! To start the (pre) season off right, Neil and I headed to a 67s game which got us in the spirit!
3. Decked out in head to toe Banana Republic, I had the opportunity to model fall coats on Daytime Ottawa. It was such a fun experience and my outfits were absolutely amazing.
4. Last night Neil and I celebrated four years of being together. After running around town on a scavenger hunt, he finally found me waiting at Murray Street for drinks and dinner. I highly recommend visiting this spot if you’re looking for a delicious meal.
5. Finishing my second half marathon with my dad by my side – I couldn’t have asked for a better running partner!

It’s The Weekend!

After a terrible and fatal tragedy this week, I think it is safe to say that this week was a particularly tough one for the residents of Ottawa. Horrific events like the one that occurred on Wednesday remind us how important it is to cherish every moment, from the smallest things to the biggest accomplishments – I plan to take this as a reminder to love unconditionally and be kind. Life is precious and you only get one chance to live it, so smile and make the most of every day. Here is just a tiny snapshot of some things I am appreciating this week:High Five For Friday1.  It is rare that Neil will participate in a race without me, but over the past week he did – and on top of that, he finished with one of the best times of the entire group! I am a very proud girlfriend.
2. This weekend my partying brought me back to the good ol’ university days – who brings a flask with them anymore? Wait – I do.
3. I used to be one of those people who wakes up at the very last moment and runs out the door. Over the past four years, Neil has taught me the importance of relaxing in the morning. Now I can’t imagine going back to whirlwind mornings – spending those 45 minutes drinking coffee and hanging out is one of my favourite parts of the day.
4. Pumpkin = Fall. Sure, but what about apple season! In my mind, apple picking trumps the pumpkin patch – unless I am carving them for Halloween. Speaking of apples, I have an amazing quinoa/oat/apple/cinnamon muffin recipe to share with you soon, if you’re interested.
5. Sunday is my second half marathon. I am so honoured to be running along side with the men and women who risk their lives for our beautiful country. The Canada Army Run is the fastest growing run in the nation over the past five years and I can’t wait to be a part of it! If you’re in Ottawa – take a look at the route and come out and cheer on the runners.

Have a wonderful weekend friends!

What’s Great This Week?

Happy Friday the 13th! Bring on the black cats and broken mirrors… just kidding. What I am not kidding about is how awesome this past week has been. Here’s why: High Five For Friday

1. Healthy baking creations that are absolutely delicious! I’ll share this recipe next week.
2. Taking part in the Electro Dash with Sarah of My Mostly Healthy Life. She is such a doll – and funny. I can’t wait until we get to hang out again!
3. Date nights with Neezie in Toronto. Nothing beats a night out with someone you love – and good cocktails.
4. Tacos on lettuce wraps – best dinner ever. Seriously, the best.
5. Dating a genius. As much as I complain about participating in his studies – it is really interesting, and even a little fun – but don’t tell him I said that ;).

Thanks as always to Lauren for hosting this bloggy link up!
Have a wonderful day and a great weekend!

Five Things That Made This Week Awesome

Although I appreciate every week for what it offers, this one has been particularly great – mainly because I have been on vacation from work and able to spend time with my loved ones in Toronto. Here are a few things that have been absolutely amazing. High Five For Friday

1.  Spending time with my Dad before leaving for Toronto.
2. The hot air balloon festival – you could see more than twenty balloons decorating the sky all at the same time!
3. The best ever almond milk latte from fresh. I wish this restaurant would open a location in Ottawa – it is absolutely out of this world.
4. Just a little splurge on Fall fashion at Anthropologie – I’m sure you guessed that.
5. Road tripping with Neil. From Ottawa to Montreal to Toronto, all in a day – it was definitely an adventure but I wouldn’t have wanted to spend it with anyone but him!

Thanks to Lauren for hosting the High Five For Friday link up party!

Have a lovely weekend!

It’s Friday – Let’s Party!

This week flew by. This morning I found myself confused that it was truly a five day week – I love when this happens. Busy weeks always mean good things, so let’s take a few minutes to reflect on the amazing moments. High Five For Friday

1. High school reunions – with yearbooks and all. I am so lucky to have remained very close with my girlfriends since our graduation, but many of us live in different cities and don’t get to see each other as much as we would like. This week we all gathered to catch up, it was such a great night!
2. Express shipping. I spoiled myself with a beautiful Hunter Green Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC from eLuxe. My order was places Tuesday afternoon and by the end of the day on Wednesday I was prancing around town wearing my brand new bag!
3. Working from home. My office building has been under construction for quite some time now but this week the disruption is worse than ever. My boss told us all to stay home for the day and work in peace – I treated myself to a delicious charcuterie spread and paired with goat cheese. How’s that for a classy home office.
4. Date nights with my man at a new restaurant in town. Neil surprised me with an impromptu dinner out at Hooch Bourbon House. If you haven’t been yet, I highly recommend giving it a try. The menu is unique and the cocktails are out of this world.
5. Spending time with one of my best friends. We don’t live in the same city but that doesn’t change anything! She is the absolute best.

The Friday Five

High Five For Friday

1. How amazing does this massive plate of seafood look?! Mussels, oysters, and shrimp – OH MY. No, I didn’t not share.
2. After hearing so many great things about this Canadian skin care company, I ordered my first Miracle 10 toner. I can’t wait to share a product review with you!
3. Having the opportunity to spend the weekend with one of my best friends – living in different cities makes me appreciate the time we have together even more! I don’t know what I’d do without her.
4. A fresh bouquet of flowers, because I’m worth it! To me, from me – no judgment.
5. Spending a relaxing Wednesday night in, only to be surprised with a half hour of fireworks outside my window!

The One Day Of The Week That Is Better Than All The Rest

Friday is always an awesome day, it is the end of the week and the day before the weekend. But for me, today is even better than usual. First of all, I am writing this post from the beautiful Toronto, Ontario [you’ll find out why in a second] and second, I am on vacation from work today! Eager to find out what has been keeping a big smile on my face this week? High Five For Friday

1. After work wine with friends. Might as well make the most of the patio season while it is still warm out.
2. Admiring the beautiful city I live in. This picture doesn’t do the parliament buildings justice, but you can get an idea at least.
3. Surprise deliveries, especially when they contain beauty products! I can’t wait to test out this Ageless Derma lip gloss!
4. Traveling to Toronto in style… Via 1 style. If you’re not familiar with the Canadian railway giant, this is means first class – drinks and meals included.
5. And finally, the reason why I am in Toronto – and on vacation today. I am going to workout with the one and only Jillian Michaels!! Don’t worry, I’ll give you a full recap after – as long as I have any energy left to type. I’m about to get my butt kicked, hard.

Thanks again to Lauren for hosting High Five For Friday.

Have a wonderful weekend!
