High Five, It’s Friday

High Five For Friday1. Surprises in the mail from Marianna at Castellammare Jewelry. If you haven’t checked out her beautiful pieces – go, now. You won’t regret it!
2. My new pair of Paige Edgemont skinnies arrived in record time. You better believe I will be wearing this non stop!
3. After years of waiting, Ottawa finally is home to it’s first H&M. The store opened to the public yesterday but I was lucky enough to score an invite to the launch party on Tuesday. Although I didn’t make any purchases, I did receive a beautiful purse in my swag bag!
4. Wearing shorts in the fall while parking myself on a bench and spending the afternoon reading made my Sunday afternoon. The almond milk latte wasn’t bad either!
5. Sephora has finally restocked their nail polish displays with the new Formula X polish. These brightly coloured stands are neatly organized and have special testing stickers so that you can play with the hues before you buy! I love the new look and will definitely be adding a few polishes to my cart soon!

Thank to Lauren for hosting High Five For Friday.

Have a wonderful weekend friends!

HOW TO: Stop Cheap Rings From Turning Your Fingers Green

I am willing to bet that with the rising popularity of finger parties [rings on every finger – and then some], more and more of you are finding yourself with green rings around your fingers. And no, I’m not talking about green jewelry – I’m talking about the nasty green stain that appears when you wear cheap [cough, cough – Forever 21] rings. Luckily, there is an easy fix and I am thrilled to share it with you today!

How To - Avoid Green Ring Fingers

I can confidently say that this is the easiest DIY I have ever done. It will literally take you under 10 minutes – start to finish.

You’ll need:

How To Avoid Stains From Costume Jewelry

1. Costume jewelry rings that stain your fingers green.

2. Clear nail polish of any kind.

Okay – here is the hard part. Using the nail polish, pain the inside of the ring. I recommend painting it any place that touches your finger.

Now let it dry completely.

Yes – that is all. Now you can wear your rings without having to worry about what your fingers will look like at the end of the day!

The finished project! This is my kind of DIY.

You can also use this trick for any earrings that cause irritation – just paint the post and backing and wear without worry!

Hope this little trick helps you out!

Hopefully yesterday brought everyone lots of chocolate, candy, and love. Over the past few weeks it seems like everything I’ve seen is red and pink. Today’s fabulous finds are exactly the opposite – simple black and white pieces (for the most part) that I am coveting. Hope you like them too!

Fabulous Finds Friday

Whether your bundled up and braving Nemo, or laying in bed trying to avoid the blizzard, these Friday finds are to die for – at least in my opinion!

Fabulous Finds Friday

1. Nike Dunk Sky High Top – These comfortable and stylish sneaks are on the top of my to buy list. They aren’t easy to find in stores but with a bit of internet scouring, they will be mine! If your feet are large than a size 6, Artizia has a few pairs in stock.

2. Proenza Schouler Double Bag – Versatile and spacious, yet oh so beautiful. This bag really isn’t in my price range – but a girl can dream right?

3. Euro Central Collection by OPI – After hitting the shelves only a few days ago, I have already picked up You’re Such a BudaPest, a light lavender blue, and I Saw… U Saw… We Saw… Warsaw, a deep navy shade. I love the combination of pastels and shimmers in this collection – there is a hue to suit everyone.

4. Rings [image courtesy of La Modella Mafia] – Step aside arm parties, it’s time to give your digits some attention. Layered rings have been creeping their way into my wardrobe over the past month. I am especially fond of mixing delicate pieces with chunky costume jewelry. I can guarantee my ring collection will be growing quickly this year.

What items are you coveting this week?

Have a great weekend!

The Perfect Lounging Outfit

It was inevitable, I caught the cold that has taken Ottawa by storm. As much as I hate to take a day off work, sometimes it is better to keep the germs contained. Let me just tell you one thing, staying home sick is overrated – one can only watch so much trashy TV.

Today’s outfit is perfect for lounging, a loose poncho-esque sweater and a comfy  pair of jeans.

A Little Betsey to Celebrate My 100th Post!

When I fist started blogging, I thought it would be a hobby – something to do when I was bored. Who knew I would fall in love with the blog world and be posting daily?!

I think 100 posts is a pretty big milestone – so I’m celebrating in style with my favourite party gal, Betsey Johnson.

I also tried styling my hair using Velcro rollers for the first time today – there is definitely a learning curve but I think it worked well. Once I figure out a tried and true method I’ll share it with you!

Silk and Snowmen – An Early Morning Outfit

Lately I’ve been making an effort to get out more on week nights. Sometimes I have to remind myself that I am not middle aged and going to bed after midnight once in a while on a Wednesday isn’t such a big deal. When was the last time you heard someone in their forties say “Remember all those nights in my youth that I stayed in and went to be early? It was AWESOME” ? Never. Life is for living, which means that last night looked something like this!

And now for some outfit photos – I made N get up before 8AM to take these. I think we both wanted to pass out in the snow [the things he does for me – I’m such a lucky girl!].
