essie Stylenomics
Remember how excited I was about essie’s Stylenomics? Well I finally got a hold of a bottle – thanks to one of my best friends.
I’m not sure if I had set my expectations too high, but I hate to admit that I was a bit disappointed, not only with the colour, but also the formula of the polish.
The polish is almost black… It is hard to notice any hints of green at all. In all the photos I’d seen online and in magazines, the green was dark but still apparent.
Don’t get me wrong, the colour does look nice on, it just wasn’t what I had expected. It has an awesome shine and hasn’t chipped in three days – this might be because of the top coat though. But the positives end there. The nail polish is thick and unforgiving. It took me three tries to get a smooth finish… and I paint my nails regularly – this was a feat. The formula was clumpy and too thick to paint on properly – it seemed like when I went to dip the brush back into the bottle the polish on my nails had become tacky already and would get ruined when I painted it with more product. I hate that… I am thinking about thinning it out with some nail polish remover but I hate to mess with a new bottle of nail polish.
A few hours later and massive amounts of patience, I finally achieved a smooth, shiny finish. I think I’ll cry if I get a chip. But, looking on the bright side, now I can start looking for another deep green to fulfill my nail fantasies!
